NSS

National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched during 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. The NSS is a central Sector scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The main objective of the scheme is to develop the personality and character of the students through voluntary community service. ‘Education through Service’ is the purpose of the NSS activities. Their motto is “Not Me But You” All the volunteers have to wear a badge with pride and a sense of responsibility towards the impoverished. The Konark wheel in the badge has 8 bars which stands for the 24 hours of a day the volunteers should be prepared for any emergency service towards the nation.Red colour of the NSS badge signifies energy and spirit of the volunteers and the blue colour weighs welfare of the mankind.
